I like how they went from the worst shot ever seen at Wimbledon to one of the best in the space of a day

A day after Alejandro Davidovich Fokina’s mind-crushing underarm serve at 8-8 in the match tiebreak against Holger Rune, Andrey Rublev, right as Alexander Bublik roared as he thumped a backhand up the line, came up with a GOAT-tier diving winner to bring up match point in the 5th Set:

A shot so good John McEnroe nearly climaxed.

Some say that Alexander Bublik is still there wondering how the hell he didn’t win the point.

Absolutely insane shot given the context of it all:

Rublev lost a 2-set lead as Bublik won 2 tiebreaks to force the deciding set.

Rublev got the break at 4-3 and served for the match at 5-4.

30-15 prior to the point, if something goes wrong it’s 30-30 and the nerves get worse.

Absolutely nails the diving forehand to bring up Match Points at 40-15, and serves it out.

Although, according to the very modest Rublev:

“It was the most lucky shot ever… It was luck, nothing else, I don’t think I can do it one more time.”
