NRL

It’s very charitable of Channel Nine to broadcast a Queensland Cup match in Thursday night prime time

Seriously, have a look at the team changes for the tank-off between 1st-placed Brisbane and 4th-placed Melbourne, in which the minor premiership is still alive:

So the Storm want to finish 4th so they can get a rematch against the Broncos next week, and the Broncos want to finish 2nd and play the Warriors…

Still, this could’ve been a game for the Broncos to gloriously claim a first minor premiership since 2000 by overcoming the team that has mentally abused them for 20 years, but instead both teams have decided to be boring and kept key players healthy for September, and all that remains is for the NRL to do the right thing and move the game to Ipswich.

And hilariously, the only Storm player who won’t get rested is Ryan Papenhuyzen, because he’s just completed his knee rehab stint in QLD Cup and rejoined the Storm’s NRL team, only to be left thinking he’s back in QLD Cup.

This whole situation apparently highlights that the NRL has some kind of an issue with dead rubber games in the final round, which I think is a crock of shite myself…

Although if you play for Canterbury, every game is a dead rubber.
