Today was the second-fastest Bathurst 1000 in history

Thanks to a relative lack of Safety Car interventions (Just the 2 required, and none after Lap 73) and a complete lack of interesting moments (Outside of Broc Feeney’s heart being ripped out on national television), Shane van Gisbergen and Richie Stanaway won today’s Bathurst 1000 in 6 hours, 7 minutes and 7 seconds, which now ranks second-fastest for completed Bathurst 1000 races, sitting just behind the 2018 race, which was completed in 6 hours, 1 minute and 44 seconds, the closest the 1000km edition of the Great Race has come to being completed in under 6 hours.

In fact, alongside that 2018 race, this is only the second time that the Bathurst 1000 has been completed in under 6 hours and 10 minutes – What is now the 3rd-fastest race was 2020 (also won by van Gisbergen) at 6 hours, 10 minutes and 56 seconds, but there’s only 3 possible methods to seeing 1000 kilometres completed in under 6 hours..

Strapping rockets to the Camaro and the Mustang, good weather, and absolutely zero Safety Cars.
