As a tribute, here’s a great memory of a season opener from years past, and this was one from season 2019/20, when Sydney Thunder regular Daniel Sams, who finished as the leading wicket-taker that season, swung wildly and plopped one up straight to square leg in the season opener against the Brisbane Heat, but there was no fielder in sight….
The obvious problem was that Daniel Sams was the bowler, and it was the worst delivery seen at the Gabba since Steve Harmison.

I think it is a bit harsh comparing that delivery to Johnny Howard’s custard arm in Pakistan, because at least Johnny landed his bowl on the pitch:
