As we now cross into the Christmas period of Thursday Metro pennants in Perth, the Manning 2s, with Manager of the Year JT doing stuff all, recorded yet another winning aggregate on Thursday afternoon, this time against South Perth’s number 1 team (Who did win the Thursday pennant last season) at Manning, 61-49 overall with 5 points:

A fairly loose and high scoring game on our rink, there were 9 ends of 3+ shots… the only difference was we got 6 of them.
So with results coming in as they did, namely Kardinya defeating the Manning 1 team at Kardinya (We knocked off Kardy 6-0 at Manning last week), and Cockburn defeating South Perth 2 by all of 1 shot on the aggregate at Cockburn, Gosnells losing 1-5 at bottom-placed Safety Bay, as we look at the standings heading into Christmas and New Year, with our next Thursday game not until January 11…
THE MANNING 2S ARE ON TOP OF THE LADDER AT CHRISTMAS.

The second team was deadset last on the ladder at the start of January 2023, when we got belted at Safety Bay and I got dropped the next week, we pulled a couple of wins in February and March to fly out of relegation danger, and look us now, up in the nosebleeds and forcing everyone to scroll down the page to find Manning 1.
For the record, they’re in 8th.
Actually, the more important fact on our end…
We’re ahead of the Manning Thursday top side at Christmas, despite them taking anybody from our team that had country license plates.

So there you go – Manning, one of the few bowling clubs in Australia where getting moved from your midweek second side to your top side is a demotion.
