Jamie Elliott hasn’t just lost Mark of the Year, he hasn’t even taken the best mark by a Collingwood player this year

This did look like Mark of the Year for Jamie Elliott on ANZAC Day, with an absolute hanger on Ben McKay’s head:

And then along came Bobby Hill on Sunday afternoon at Docklands, with a double lift to rival Andrew Krakouer in 2011:

Everything about that mark is amazingly good – Takes it with two hands, tucks it under his arm while he’s still in midair, and sticks a perfect landing.

I would note there’s a few similarities to Hill’s mark and that of Andrew Krakouer’s 2011 Mark of the Year:

And that of Ashley Sampi’s 2004 Mark of the Year:

All those marks from Hill, Krakouer and Sampi feature a ride, followed by a massive double lift during the mark that adds to the hang time and height, which makes all 3 marks so superb.

A couple of similarities with the Hill & Krakouer marks in particular:

Both at the Southern End/Coventry End of Docklands

Both with the enormous double lift

Both games featured a massive final quarter comeback from Collingwood, who were defending premiers at the time.
