Noted Premiership-winning super pest Jack Ginnivan played against Collingwood in Melbourne for the first time after getting traded last year…
And finished as best afield for Hawthorn, ending the game by putting the Pies fans to sleep as he was booed and abused by the same people who were incensed when opposing fans booed him as recently as September 2023.
One of those people having a go at him just happens to be a Channel Nine presenter:
And I didn’t even mention that Collingwood seemed pretty happy to get rid of Ginnivan, a move that will most likely hand a Top 6 draft pick to Fremantle for the Lachie Schultz trade, plus an early 2nd Round pick to the Hawks.
Once again, as I did when the trade occurred last October, I remind you of Jerry Seinfeld’s cold opening about cheering for clothes instead of teams:
“Loyalty to any one sports team is pretty hard to justify, because the players are always changing, the team can move to another city…”
“You’re actually rooting for the clothes, when you get right down to it, You know what I mean? You are standing and cheering and yelling for your clothes to beat the clothes from another city.”
“Fans will be so in love with a player, but if he goes to another team, they boo him. This is the same human being in a different shirt; they hate him now – Boo! Different shirt! Booooo.”
Actually, the best part about that Tweet is who gave the first reply…

Every team needs a lightning rod, and Collingwood traded theirs.
