The return of the Footscray Bulldogs

In 1954, the Footscray Bulldogs won their first VFL Premiership against Melbourne, winning the Grand Final by 51 points (15.12-102 to 7.9-51).

The Bulldogs’ only VFL premiership of the 20th century, and their lone premiership until the miracle run of 2016

In 2024, the Western Bulldogs revived the Footscray name for their Retro Round game against Melbourne, celebrating the 70th anniversary of the ’54 Premiership with a guernsey to match…

The Dogs won the game by 51 points.

Fancy that, in both years The ‘Scray kicked 15 goals for the game.
