Jessica & Noemie Fox make history for Australian Olympians

In sweeping the Women’s Canoe Slalom events in Paris, the Fox sisters are the fourth set of siblings to win Gold Medals for Australia, and the first siblings to each win individual Gold Medals for Australia at the Olympic Games.

Hang it in The Louvre

In the country in which they born, nonetheless.

I feel sorry for those ladies in the Kayak Cross, especially Kimberley Woods who is the World No.1… just when Jess Fox gets knocked out in the heats and you think you’ve got a decent chance of winning a rare Gold Medal, along comes her little sister to flatten you and win Gold.

Here is the list of siblings to win Gold Medals for Australia:

The twins John & Tom Anderson each won Sailing gold medals at Munich in 1972 (John in the Star class and Tom in the Dragon class)… of course the fun fact is that the Sailing events for Munich were held in the Bay of Kiel in the north.

Lee & Michelle Capes played for the 1988 Hockeyroos in their Women’s Hockey Gold Medal in Seoul.

Cate & Bronte Campbell swam together in the 4x100m Freestyle victories at Rio in 2016 and Tokyo in 2020/2021…

But yes, Jess & Noemie are the first to each win individual Gold Medals;

Jess with her 3 Gold Medals in the C1 (2020 & 2024) and K1 (2024)

And Noemie, in her Olympic debut, blasted from the shadows of her older sister, knocked her out in the heats, and went on to win the inaugural Women’s Kayak Cross after winning every single race she competed in (Round 1, Heats, Quarter Final, Semi Final & Final)

What a family, and that leaves Richard Fox, a 10-time K1 World Champion, as the only member of the Fox family who didn’t win an Olympic medal.
