The Perth Scorchers bring up a Big Bash milestone on New Year’s Eve

Another century from tonight… Jhye Richardson’s 100th BBL wicket

With tonight’s win against the Adelaide Strikers to end 2024, the Perth Scorchers are first team to record 100 wins in the history of the Big Bash League.

Total record; 162 matches, 100 wins (1 of them being a Super Over), 60 defeats, 2 games with No Result.

Record by opposition:

Sydney Sixers: 17 wins (1 in a Super Over), 11 defeats

Melbourne Renegades: 16 wins, 4 defeats (1 No Result)

Brisbane Heat: 16 wins, 8 defeats

Melbourne Stars: 15 wins, 8 defeats (1 No Result)

Adelaide Strikers: 14 wins, 12 defeats

Hobart Hurricanes: 13 wins, 8 defeats

Sydney Thunder: 9 wins, 9 defeats

There’s some more fun facts in there – The Scorchers are the only team with a winning record against the Sixers, the Strikers have the most wins against the Scorchers, and of all teams, the lowly Thunder are the only team who the Scorchers don’t have a winning record against…

In fact, the Scorchers are the only team the Thunder don’t have a losing record against.

By sheer chance, the Thunder are the Scorchers’ next opponent on Friday evening at Optus Stadium.

There’s also half a chance that the Sydney Sixers could also reach 100 BBL wins this season, as they currently stand on 95 wins with 6 games still to play before the finals, and with their start to the season and how crap most of the league is, they should get there with a leg in the air.

Unsurprisingly, the two most successful teams in the history of the BBL are the only two teams to even pass 80 wins, let alone 90…

They’re also the only 2 teams out of the 8 in the league that have all-time winning records.
