Ben Hunt finally gets his redemption and sets a record for premiership players

10 years after he committed the most brutal error in Grand Final history, Ben Hunt is a finally premiership player at 35 years, 193 days of age, becoming the oldest first-time premiership player in the NRL era, surpassing Paul Gallen (35 years, 49 days) with Cronulla in 2016.

It also now means every single player in the Top 10 for games played in First Grade won a premiership:

1st – Cameron Smith (430 games) won in 2012, 2017 & 2020

2nd – Cooper Cronk (372 games) won in 2012, 2017, 2018 and 2019

Equal 3rd – Darren Lockyer & Ben Hunt (Equal on 355 games) – Lockyer won in 1997, 1998, 2000 & 2006, Hunt won in 2025

5th – Daly Cherry-Evans (352 games) won in 2011

6th – Terry Lamb (350 games) won in 1984, 1988 & 1995

7th – Steve Menzies (349 games) won in 1996 & 2008

8th – Paul Gallen (348 games) won in 2016

9th – Corey Parker (347 games) won in 2006

10th – Benji Marshall (346 games) won in 2005

It also means the player with the most games without a Grand Final victory is once again…

Nathan Hindmarsh (18th overall) with 330 games, although if you want to get technical, Adam Blair (17th overall) with 331 games has the most without a PREMIERSHIP victory, given he played in Melbourne’s stripped 2009 premiership without playing in another… funnily enough, Blair and Hunt were both in Brisbane’s 2015 Grand Final team.
