JT’s Succinct NRL Tips: Round 2, 2024

Alright, on we go to Round 2, as Spencer Leniu got 8 weeks for the racial abuse of Ezra Mam, and what got me interested was this comment that the Roosters included on their website when they entered Spencer’s guilty plea:

Inclusivity and diversity are key and fundamental values of the Sydney Roosters and we respect equally all backgrounds and cultures and will not tolerate any form of racism.

Unless it’s James Tedesco describing Asians on the street as Squid Games.

I think someone called him Squid James as a response.

That was a burn.

Still, I wonder when we’re going to treat players with criminal charges like that, instead of flogging them with warm lettuce and letting them back into the game.

So, looking through the games for this week, as the Titans get canned to the bye after their crap performance in Round 1:

The Broncos and the Rabbitohs were both losers in Las Vegas, and they’ll beat each other up on Thursday night to send the loser to 0-2 to start the season, and it’s a long road back from there.

Cronulla hosts Canterbury at Shark Park in the 6pm Friday graveyard slot, which will probably a good place to bury the Berries after their Round 1 performance.

Another big clash between the 3peating Panthers and Eels in the Channel Nine Friday night slot, of course the Eels being the only team to defeat the Panthers twice last year… shame it didn’t help them make the Top 8.

The Raiders are back in Canberra after their successful visit to the Hunter, and unfortunately for people paying good money to watch Fox Sports they can’t keep the Wests Tigers on a bye forever, as Benji Marshall makes his coaching debut in First Grade.

The Cowboys host the Knights in the sauna, aka Townsville in the twilight.

The Storm and the Warriors meet on Saturday night, as their ANZAC Day fixture gets put on the back burner this year so that both teams can get a home game on the day of commemoration.

The two winners in Las Vegas meet on Sunday afternoon as Manly host the Roosters at Brookvale, a game that could genuinely go either way, mainly because there’s two teams on the field.

And the Dolphins host the Dragons out at Redcliffe on a Sunday evening, as the Dragons seemingly get little respect from the bookies despite clubbing the Titans on the Gold Coast, while the Dolphins played like a Wooden Spoon candidate.

Now, time for the Succinct Tip generator to do its thing, and I would note that if you went against every tip I made in Round 1, you’d have scored 6/8.

If you were a dumbarse like me, you’d have scored 2.

Running Score after Round 1 = 2/8 (25%)

Lock of the Week

Going well with my Locks so far – The Vegas one went to crap, and the actual Round 1 lock went to crap as the Warriors went to sleep in the 2nd Half and coughed up the 2 points to the Sharks.

Alright, this week’s Lock….

THIS SATURDAY, GIVE YOUR LOVE TO A COWBOY MAN, HE’S GONNA LOVE YOU, AS HARD AS HE CAN, CAN.
