After a phone call on Tuesday afternoon asking if I could help set up his phone, I saw my Waterford TAB colleague Mr Alfonse this morning, and while sorting out our business, he suggested I do something different for the website, which he abbreviated to a UPOI….
An UNIMPORTANT PIECE OF INFORMATION.
After my usual lack of thought, I agreed to do it, and without any further ado, here’s my UPOI, alternatively UPOIOTD, for May 18, 2022:
During the AFL’s Sir Doug Nicholls Round this weekend, unbeaten reigning premiers Melbourne take on 17th placed reigning wooden spooners North Melbourne at Marvel Stadium on Saturday evening.
While obviously a lopsided matchup on paper, here’s an unimportant piece of info – the Demons have never defeated the Kangaroos at Docklands/Colonial Stadium/Telstra Dome/Etihad/Marvel Stadium.
The two teams have played at Docklands 8 times since 2000, although the last encounter prior to Saturday was way back in 2014, and the Kangaroos have won the lot.

By some sheer coincidence, 7 of those games occurred when Melbourne were living in the Dark Ages, a time when they didn’t win at Docklands for 8 years, although they did get one highlight in 2007… Michael ‘Juice’ Newton’s Mark of the Year:
Although we should note, even if the Demons do win on Saturday, technically they still will have never defeated North at Marvel, because Melbourne isn’t the Melbourne Football Club for Sir Doug Nicholls Round…
They’re the Narrm Football Club.
