Crazy Craig’s Picks of the Day: 17th February

Based on a series of plausible events in a regional Victorian town

Well friends and Swifties, here we are at the weekend of the Black Caviar Lightning Stakes at Flemington, the only race that Black Caviar won 3 times from her 25 starts, also setting the Flemington 1000m track record in her 2013 win (55.420s), which is still standing exactly 11 years later, and could be standing for at least another 11 years… Unless some cowboy sets a frightening Straight Five pace and runs it in 54 seconds.

Other highlights for this Saturday include a couple of Group 2s at Randwick, namely the Expressway Stakes, the feature Apollo Stakes and the Light Fingers Stakes, plus there’s the fabled Pinjarra Magic Millions meeting down in that town just outside of Mandurah, so with it being one of the feature race meetings of the year outside of Ascot or Belmont, expect to see more cars lying on bricks than usual in Pinjarra,

So it’s on to Crazy Craig, and what a week to forget last week – His first pick finished 2nd, which wasn’t all that bad… then his $1.80 Fine Young Cannibals Good Thing ran 2nd… then his last pick got scratched, which was his best result of the day.

So much for that GOOD LUCK CHARM:

P(r)ick No.1: Think It Over (No.1, Barrier 7) E/W in Race 7 at Randwick (SR7), 4pm AEDT

1400m Group 2 WFA Apollo Stakes

Trainer: Kerry Parker, Jockey: Nash Rawiller, 59kg

Hello hello everyone it’s Craaaaaazy Craig TBFB, Scratchie King of Bairnsdale, and two weeks back I was living in the penthouse….

This week I’m having a sleep out back in the shithouse!

Nothing to do with a drop in form, it’s just that Crazy Colin locked me out of the house on Wednesday night!

Anyway, we’ve got to have a look at a few nags on Saturday, and I’ve gone over to the feature race, the time-honoured Apollo Stakes that Winx used to terrorise years ago, one of the several thousand races in Australia that should be a Group 1 but isn’t, and forget about Fangirl, forget about Militarize, because I reckon you ought to…

Think It Over.

In fact, just ask yourself, what would Aretha Franklin do?

THINK!

Why should you Think It Over?

4 wins and 2 second placings from 9 runs 1st Up… It’s not a silly idea!

On another note, Kerry Parker… wasn’t he that billionaire who owned Channel 9?

P(r)ick No.2: Punch Lane (No.13, Barrier 8) in Race 10 at Flemington (MR10), 5:35pm AEDT

1400m BM84 York Trophy

Trainers: Anthony & Sam Freedman, Jockey: Mark Zahra, 56kg

You couldn’t get a greater discrepancy in lucky numbers…

The cursed number 13…. in lucky barrier 8!

Enjoy your weekend folks, stay safe, stay negative, KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE ROAD, and remember, I’m Crazy Craig, and that’s why they call me Craaaaaazy Craig!
