Based on a series of plausible events in a regional Victorian town

Well friends, the national day of commemoration has come and gone, which must mean it’s time for another Saturday of racing, this being the last Saturday of April, and the first major weekend of the Morphetville Carnival, highlighted by the Group 1 double of the Australasian Oaks and the Robert Sangster Stakes for the fillies and mares, and the Group 3 John Hawkes Stakes, named after the Hall of Famer who started training at Strathalbyn way back in 1971 before going on to some fairly lofty heights, among them being the stable trainer for Bob and Jack Ingham, running 4 stables in 4 different states simultaneously, once holding the record for the most winners in a season, and winning every major Group 1 race bar the Melbourne Cup.
On a more historical note, Chris Waller has a chance to beat his own record of 18 Group 1 victories in a season with Movin Out in the Australasian Oaks, having set the record of 18 back in 2018-19 when Winx was still causing carnage and Verry Elleegant had joined the stable… and we’ve still got the entire Queensland Carnival to come.
Other than Adelaide, there’s a random metro meeting at Randwick, which must be because the Hawkesbury Gold Cup meeting will be held next weekend rather than the last weekend of April, Eagle Farm has a heap of listed races, and there’s a grand old day at Ascot with the Group 2 Karrakatta Plate for the 2-year-olds, and that random slot race we started last year, The Quokka…
You can tell it’s a half decent race because there’s half a dozen jockeys coming over from the East for a ride, among them Craig Williams, Josh Parr, Tim Clark, Zac Lloyd, Tyler Schiller and Billy Egan.
Honestly, what a Quokka shit… they should’ve swapped the names of the races around so that the greyhound race at Cannington was The Quokka, The Nullarbor would still be the trots race at Gloucester Park, and The Sandgroper should’ve been the horse race.
So it’s on to Crazy Craig, and what an amazing run this has been, as Jimmysstar made it FOUR CONSECUTIVE WEEKS with a winner… can Crazy Craig go where the Penrith Panthers have failed miserably, and make it FIVE WINS IN A ROW?
You bet he can, because he’s got LUCKY LIPS!

1100m Group 3 Quality John Hawkes Stakes

Hello hello all it’s Crazy Craig TBFB, Scratchie King of Bairnsdale, and I can’t bloody well believe it, despite my basic instincts threatening to kick in, I just SOMEHOW keep finding bloody winners!
The mothers with prams are bloody well swimming in $50 notes on the sidewalk, the scratchies are flowing out of the newsagencies, it is nothing but SUPPORTIVE behaviour between one and all right now, and that’s the way life is supposed to be!
Anyway, this week we’ve got to get off on the right foot, which could be the wrong foot for me because I’m usually left footed, and we’ll go and join the Group 1 action in Adelaide, and stuff the Oaks and the Sangster, we’ll go to the John Hawkes Stakes and see if Watchme Win can confirm that Hot Chocolate were right… Everyone’s A Winner!
P(r)ick No.2: Aspen Colorado (No.12, Barrier 3) E/W in Race 9 at Moonee Valley (MR9) 5:10pm AEST

“I don’t know Lloyd, the French are assholes.”
P(r)ick No.3: Overpass (No.1, Barrier 10) The Quokka at Ascot (PR8), 3:45pm AWST

In the spirit of the day, let’s go for 5 OUT OF 5!
Enjoy your Saturday folks, stay safe, stay negative, KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE ROAD, and remember, I’m Crazy Craig, and that’s why they call me Craaaaaazy Craig!
