Based on a series of plausible events in a regional Victorian town

Bloody hell, Crazy Craig picked two winners last week… it’s more unbelievable than Crazy Craig putting a bloody pick in!
After last week’s hysterics, we have the first properly decent Super Saturday of 2025, with the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes day at Caulfield, also featuring the Group 1 triple header of the Blue Diamond, Futurity Stakes and Oakleigh Plate, and the Silver Slipper at Rosehill on a day for 2-year-olds, which makes this a rare year where the Victorian 2-year-olds can’t attempt the Blue Diamond-Silver Slipper lead up to the Golden Slipper, with other dodgy Group 2 races including the Hobartville Stakes, the Millie Fox Stakes and the Group 3 Parramatta Cup, coincidentally in the 40th year since Parramatta last won the Winfield Cup, and there’s the reappearance of Group racing in Morphetville with the Group 3 Lord Reims Stakes, which clearly indicates that we must be getting close to the Adelaide Cup.
So it’s on to Crazy Craig, and I couldn’t believe my unholy eyes last week… 2 WINNERS FROM 2 DAMN PICKS, after he couldn’t hit the side of a barn door for a month.
The LUCKY LIPS are back in town!
Bugger it, let’s back Paradise City again!: Paradise City (No.4, Barrier 5) E/W in Race 6 at Caulfield (MR6), 3:05pm AEDT
1400m Group 3 Mares
Trainers: Peter Moody & Katherine Coleman, Jockey: Zac Spain, 58kg
Hello hello everybody it’s Crazy Craig TBFB, Scratchie KING of Bairnsdale once again, and the DOWNTRODDEN of Bairnsdale are full of hope once again, because the scratchies were flowing out of the newsagencies thanks to Paradise City’s victory at Flemington, and you can pretty much end the year now, because I may never back a longer priced winner for the next 12 MONTHS!
Anyway, after that performance, I did see that Paradise City was going around on a 7-day backup on the orders of one Peter Moody, once again being ridden by Zac ‘AXL ROSE’ Spain, so to that I sing…
Take me down to the Paradise City, where the grass is green and the girls are pretty!
P(r)ick No.2: Autumn Boy (No.1, Barrier 8) in the Hobartville Stakes at Rosehill (SR8), 4:35pm AEDT
1400m Group 2 3YO Set Weights
Trainer: Chris Waller, Jockey: James McDonald, 56.5kg
There’s a stat going around that there’s only been 2 horses in the last 20 years win the Hobartville Stakes 1st Up, with those horses being the Chris Waller trained horses Press Statement (2016) and The Autumn Sun in 2019, who is of course, the sire of Chris Waller’s Autumn Boy, and the other coincidence is both The Autumn Sun and Autumn Boy won the Caulfield Guineas in their last start of the Spring.
But, there’s a bigger question at stake here…
Can a horse named AUTUMN Boy win in SUMMER?
HAS HE GONE A WEEK TOO EARLY!
The Autumn Boy is a Raider
Pillaging just for fun
He’ll knock you ’round and upside down
And laugh when he’s conquered and won
Group 1 Picks
Futurity Stakes: Treasurethemoment (No.7)
Blue Diamond Stakes: Closer To Free (No.3)
Oakleigh Plate: Point Barrow (No.14)
Enjoy your weekend folks, stay safe, stay negative, KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE ROAD, and remember, I’m Crazy Craig, and that’s why they call me Craaaaaazy Craig!
