Out of all the several thousand photos I’ve taken of bowls games over the years, it’s very rare that I actually get photos of myself bowling, which is why it was so nice that my mum and sister (Plus a surprise appearance from my old sparring partner Ian White) made the brave trek out to Cockburn on a 39 degree day to watch me play in the State Singles, and thanks to Clare, I now have about 40 photos of myself sending down bowls destined for the ditch.
Out of the lot, I singled out 3 taken in quick succession…
Some call it poetry in motion, I would best describe it as like watching a cow walk on ice…

And I can say with certainty that with the way the narrow hand played at Cockburn on Saturday morning, that bowl drifted wide and never came back, which would explain why I went on to lose both games 15-21.
On another note, here’s a lovely photo of the crew that played in Section 46: Yours truly on the left, Edan Manifis from Osborne Park, and the winner David Park from Kalamunda, who went on to make it to the Round of 32.
