Based on a series of plausible events in a regional Victorian town

Well friends, the time-honoured Warrnambool Carnival has come and gone, with dozens of people managing to survive 3 days drinking on The Hill in frozen temperatures and driving rain, and they all had to somehow find winners on one of the heaviest tracks ever seen in recent Australian racing.
I think two horses actually went missing in the slop.
So this weekend’s highlight that isn’t King Charles having the Crown Jewels dropped on his head by the Archbishop of Canterbury, is the Group 1 Robert Sangster Stakes for the fillies and mares at Morphetville, named after the crazy English owner and breeder who battled the Sheikhs in the parade ring during the 1980s, in duels that ran into the 10s of millions…
Sangster has been dead for 20 years, Sheikh Mohammed is still going, so I guess therein lies the lesson as to who prevailed.
The other highlight of the day is the Group 2 Hollindale Stakes meeting in Queensland, this year to be held on the Sunshine Coast due to the Gold Coast track being re-turfed, and the other named race of the day is the Takeover Target Stakes +Gosford Gold Cup at Gosford, named after the ageless injury prone nag who became the best sprinter in the world in the late 2000s.
So it’s on to Crazy Craig, and the last 2 weeks he seems to have alternated between 2 wins out of 3 and nothingness, so this week suggests he’s going to get bugger all from his picks, so let’s get stuck into them, set to the sounds of a great late folk singer who was once Crazy Craig’s theme tune…
It’s Gordon Lightfoot with Sundown!
P(r)ick No.1, the Greg Kihn Pick: Kin (No.13, Barrier 3) in Race 6 at Gosford (SR6), 2:10pm AEST
1000m BM78 MMM Thunder Thousand Handicap
Trainer: James Cummings, Jockey: Rachel King, 52.5kg
Hello hello everyone it’s Craaaaazy Craig TBFB, Scratchie King of Bairnsdale, and after finding a bit of form at the start of the month, we are now absolutely PISSING IN the winners left right and centre!
2 out of 3 correct in 2 out of the last 3 Saturdays!
The only difference between me and Nostradamus is that Nostradamus doesn’t have a C in his name!
Anyway, we’re back to trying to fish out winners once again as we approach the end of the Autumn, and first up I’m going to sunny Gosford, where I see a horse called Kin…
Now, I seem to remember back in my heyday there was a band by the same name, led by bloke called Greg!
However, this time around it’s not the Greg Kihn Band, it could be the Greg Kin Band!
I tell you, in a racing context the opening chorus would sound like:
They don’t ride ’em like that anymore
They just don’t ride ’em like that anymore
Yep, they don’t ride favourites like that anymore!
P(r)ick No.2: Seven Veils (No.8, Barrier 8) in the Tobin Bronze Stakes at Morphetville (AR8), 4:07pm ACST
1200m 3YO Set Weights Group 2
Trainers: Ciaron Maher & David Eustace, Jockey: John Allen, 55.5kg
If we were in China, this would be the luckiest pick of them all.
RACE 8.
NUMBER 8.
BARRIER 8.
And ironically enough, it’s for a horse with a Seven in it’s name, so it’s even luckier!
You know it makes sense, I’m Sam Kekovich Crazy Craig!

P(r)ick No.3: Fear The Wind (No.6, Barrier 6) in Race 8 at Ascot, 4:34pm AWST
2200m 66+ Rating City of Belmont Trophy
Trainers: Dan & Ben Pearce, Jockey: William Pike, 56.5kg
The penultimate race of the Ascot season, and it appears they should Fear The Wind….
Fear The Wind BENEATH MY WINGS!
Enjoy your Saturday folks, stay safe, stay negative, GAMBLE WITHIN REASON, KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE ROAD, and remember, I’m Crazy Craig, and that’s why they call me Craaaaaazy Craig!
