Based on a series of plausible events in a regional Victorian town

Well friends it’s the last weekend of Autumn 2023 if you live in the good hemisphere, and the highlight of this weekend comes from Eagle Farm, with the running of…
The Kingsford Smith Cup.
Plus the time-honoured Queensland Derby.
If the name Kingsford Smith Cup’ is any guide, expect the horses to hit the home straight and go missing, never to be seen again by the Australian populace, and subsequently have Sydney Airport renamed in their honour.
Other than that, things are getting a bit quieter around the country, with the only other races of note being the Group 3 Hyperion Stakes at Belmont, and the Listed Bel Esprit Stakes, named after Black Caviar’s sire and winner of the ’02 Blue Diamond.
So it’s on to Crazy Craig, and somehow our resident lunatic wound up a winner last week, despite being reduced to 2 runners from his original picks, and that winner came thanks to Sigh at Flemington, despite lugging the considerable weight of the Crazy Craig brigade down the Straight Six, and hopefully our resident form ‘analyst’ can find another winner this week, because he’s got Elvis Presley as a Good Luck Charm!

Hello hello everyone it’s Craaaaazy Craig TBFB, Scratchie King of Bairnsdale, and after I sighed with delight last week at Flemington, this time around I feel a song coming on as I make my way towards Eagle Farm for a solid Saturday of racing, backing a horse who could be from the land of Oz…
Take it away, mister Sir Reginald Dwight, Elton John!
GOODBYE YELLOW BRICK ROAD!
Where the dogs of society howl
You can’t plant me in your penthouse
I’m going back to my plough!
Back to the howling, old owl in the woods
Hunting the horny-back toad!
Oh, I’ve finally decided my future lies
Beyond the Yellow Brick Road!

Where will we be going with Naval College?
THE NAVY!
They want you, they want you
They want you as a new recruit!
