Based on a series of plausible events in a regional Victorian town

Alright friends, this weekend sees the running of glorious Group 1 Goodwood at Morphetville to end the Adelaide Carnival, while some other highlights include the Takeover Target and the Gosford Gold Cup in the feature race meeting of the year in Gosford, and amazing to think it’ll be 20 years since Joe Janiak’s broken down wonder horse went all the way to Royal Ascot and won the King’s Stand Stakes, which led to him being officially rated as the world’s best sprinter on turf.
He won Group races in 5 different states and 4 different countries… there’s no other Australian horse in history that can claim that.
There’s also the Group 2 Hollindale Stakes meeting on the Gold Coast, and it’s great to see the Bat Out Of Hell back on the Hollindale Stakes card, albeit it’s now run over 1000 metres compared to the 900 metre shootout it used to be… hopefully the winning trainer still gets a Harley Davidson Fat Boy motorcycle as a prize, and finally this Saturday marks the last Ascot meeting until October as the focus shifts over to Belmont, and what a captivating final card it is at Ascot, with absolutely no interesting races to speak of.
Speaking of no interesting things to speak of, here’s Crazy Craig!
Tom Petty Pick: Flying For Fun (No.13, Barrier 10) in the Goodwood at Morphetville (AR8), 4pm ACST (3:30 AEST)
1200m SW+P Sportsbet The Goodwood
Trainer: Bryce Heys, Jockey: Zac Lloyd, 54kg
Hello hello all it’s Crazy Craig TBFB, Scratchie King of Bairnsdale, and this week I have decided to focus on one race EXCLUSIVELY above all others, that being the feature Goodwood at Morphetville, and after reviewing all available options for the race, by which I mean I once again fired a dart at a board and completely missed the board, I believe we just have to go with Flying For Fun the absolute tragedy beaten in the Sangster, a run so tragic and luckless that poor old Bryce Heys jumped out of a boat and hit concrete, so much so that she was near enough to last at the 200m and lost the race by a head… and ran 4th.
That’s right knackers, lost a bloody Group 1 by a head AND RAN BLOODY 4TH!
NO MONEY BACK WHATSOEVER!
Still, they call her Flying For Fun, which is exactly what she was doing in that last furlong of the Sangster, and you know who else was Learning To Fly for fun in 1991?
TOM PETTY.
What connection does this have to anything?
Nothing, I just like listening to Tom Petty!
Enjoy your Saturday folks, stay safe, stay negative, KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE ROAD, and remember, I’m Crazy Craig, and that’s why they call me Craaaaaazy Craig!
