Based on a series of plausbile events in a regional Victorian town

So we move on through the Month of May-hem, and some solid races this weekend as the Group 1 Doomben 10,000 headlines the explosion to life of the Brisbane Winter Carnival, as Jimmysstar races against Queensland’s finest, and there’s plenty of other noteworthy races on the card, including:
The Group 2 Spirit Of Boom Classic on the Doomben undercard, a race that might serve as a form reference for the upcoming Tatt’s Tiara next month.
The Andrew Ramsden at Flemington, a race that did grant a ballot exemption for the Melbourne Cup, or at one stage did hold a ballot exemption for the Melbourne Cup, and once again holds a ballot exemption for the Melbourne Cup, plus the Straight Six
The Scone Carnival is back up and running in the Thoroughbred capital of Australia, with a heap of Listed races named after Hunter Valley legends (Denise’s Joy, Ortensia and Luskin Star) and the Group 3 Dark Jewel Classic..
And Belmont returns, headlined by the Group 3 Belmont Sprint, which used to be run at Belmont Forum whenever a juvenile shoplifter set off the alarm and was promptly chased by security.
Speaking of juveniles that have run-ins with security, here’s Crazy Craig!
The Tokien Pick: Middle Earth (No.2, Barrier 5) E/W in Race 7 at Doomben (BR7), 3:22pm AEST
2000m Group 3 Quality JRA Chairman’s Handicap
Trainer: Ciaron Maher, Jockey: Ethan Brown, 60kg
Good day to you all knackers it’s Crazy Craig TBFB, Scratchie King of Bairnsdale, and let me tell you all I am itching for a bloody rest at some point in the next weeks, but until that day comes I’m going to keep trying to do my part for the DOWN ON THEIR LUCK of Australia, and we might just do it at Doomben, as the 3rd placegetter in the Melbourne Cup in Middle Earth goes to Queensland 3rd Up after 2 runs at the mile for what could be described as fitness tests, and now prepares to tackle the 2000m of Doomben ahead of what appears to be a Brisbane Cup campaign over the 2 miles…
Of course, there are multiple factors against Ciaron Maher’s horse, namely carrying 60kg, and not only that carrying it on a Heavy track, but I would point out Middle Earth carried 60kg in the JRA Cup at Moonee Valley and ran on for 3rd, but what does that have to do with a Heavy track at Doomben?
NOTHING AT ALL, but it does tell you that a big tough British horse from the homeland of Tolkien can carry weight, and as for the track, I couldn’t care at all because I’M CRAZY!
Anyway, on the subject of Middle Earth, here’s a song!
It’s funny, because when it comes to Middle Earth and Queensland, Lang Park during State of Origin may as well be Mordor!
The Trashmen Pick: Surfin’ Bird (No.9, Barrier 2) in Race 9 at Scone (SR9), 3:50pm AEST
1400m Group 3 F&M Dark Jewel Classic
Trainers: Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott, Jockey: Rachel King, 55kg
Following on from a tip at Hawkesbury a fortnight ago that failed by a split lip….
Don’t you know about the bird?
WELL, EVERYBODY KNOWS THAT THE BIRD IS THE WORD!
Enjoy your weekend folks, stay safe, stay negative, KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE ROAD, and remember, I’m Crazy Craig, and that’s why they call me Craaaaaazy Craig!
