Based on a series of plausible events in a regional Victorian town

Alright, after an enforced week off due to a sudden medical episode in Bairnsdale (As Icehouse would say, nothing too serious), we have returned for the first Group 1 of the new season, the Winx Stakes at Randwick, formerly the Warwick Stakes at Warwick Farm, a race won by Chris Waller a mere 8 times in 15 years, and this year Waller has a mere 8 out of the 14 runners, which still doesn’t topple a race at Randwick years ago (August 4, 2018) that Waller had 8 out of 9 runners in a staying race, and the other runner was a horse named Red Alto trained by Brent Stanley…
Red Alto won the race.
Other than that, what a fantastic array of races with the Cairns Amateur Cup, the Carlyon Cup at Sandown, the Leon Macdonald Stakes, and for the Seinfeld fans we’ve got the Newman Cup up in the Pilbara…

Reminds me that Channel 115 is the dedicated Seinfeld channel on Foxtel, because you can’t go wrong with a Seinfeld binge watch when you’re 10 beers deep on a Saturday morning…
I do believe the Sydney Swans tried it last week, the only problem is it was Monday morning by the time they tried it.
And on that note here’s Crazy Craig, and I think he actually picked a winner the last time he made an appearance, so I think that warrants an appearance from Cliff Richard!
The Mambo Italiano Pick: Campione D’Italia (No.8, Barrier 8) in Race 8 at Randwick (SR8), 3:50pm AEST
1200m Group 3 Show County Quality
Trainer: Chris Waller, Jockey: Tommy Berry, 56.5kg
G’Day knackers, I would love to note that my good mate Mr Alfonse will know this pick very well – Race 8, No.8, BARRIER 8… Our good mate THE GABSTER would’ve been all over this one, AND it wasn’t in a 1000 metre race either!
The Peter Schmeichel Pick: Makdane (No.5, Barrier 6) E/W in Race 9 at Sandown (MR9), 5:15pm AEST
1600m BM84 Handicap
Trainer: Michael Kent, Jockey: Craig Williams, 58.5kg
When you’ve got a name like MAKDANE you’ve got a number of choices, and honestly this could’ve gone to Queen Mary or Hans Christian Andersen, but when it comes to MAK-DANES on the same weekend the PREMIER LEAGUE is back in action, you’ve only got to go to the most successful goalkeeper in the history of the Premier League, the man who managed to get bloody Denmark to win a European Championship for which they didn’t even qualify!
That is a true story – Denmark only made the 1992 European Championship because Yugosalvia was disqualified by United Nations sanctions when the War broke out, then proceeded to sneak out of their group with 1 win, wipe out the defending champions the Netherlands in the semi final, and then casually defeat World Champions Germany in the Final, giving Denmark more major trophies than the English since colour television was invented.
WINX STAKES PICK: CAN AUTUMN GLOW WIN… IN THE WINTER?
Enjoy your weekend folks, stay safe, stay negative, KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE ROAD, and remember, I’m Crazy Craig, and that’s why they call me Craaaaaazy Craig!
