The Chalk Eaters Guide Review: 11th May

2 wins- A return to form!

Wild Planet in Race 1 at Scone- WINNER

When I threw Wild Planet at 3pm/5pm yesterday afternoon, he was $3.70 and Military Zone was hovering around 2/1.

By the jump, he was $2.90 and Military Zone was $2.70- Wowee.

Thanks to drawing the rail, Wild Planet kicked up and took the lead, while the other two market fancies in Military Zone and Signore Fox were back last and 2nd last.

Not even Collingwood got a free kick that good against Carlton, and they had 24 of them.

Wild Planet was challenged on the outside by Bare Naked Lady, and Military Zone made his challenge in the straight, but at about the 200, he seemed to either duck in or peak on the run- Either way, our hero kicked clear and scored a very nice win under Tommy Berry.

Zoutori in Race 3 at Caulfield- WINNER

By my own count, that’s the first time I’ve managed to find a winner from the so-called ‘Pretty Boy’ Craig Williams, who ended up riding a treble on the card.

Anyway, under the big weight of 60kg, the Zoustar gelding was impressive- Williams got him to settle in the old one out one back, waited for the gap to open on the turn, and from there he just kept on finding, winning by a length.

Suprisingly, he drifted from evens to $2.40 at the jump.

The second winner of what turned into a treble for Willow!

Specialism in Race 1 at Ascot- 2nd

So my first tip involved the 2nd favourite beating the favourite, and this one involved the favourite beating the 2nd favourite.

It turned out, the 2nd favourite won both races.

Ultimately, despite sitting outside Mia Dolce (As I had wanted Azzopardi to do), Specialism probably wasn’t able to get enough pressure on her main rival, who looked absolutely comfortable under Kirby, as the two fancies absolutely spaced everyone else in the straight, but Mia Dolce managed to establish a 2L gap at the 200m, which proved the difference, as Specialism made a desperate late challenge, but failed by a head.

In the end, the best juvenile on the day won!

Leonardo Da Hinchi in Race 8 at Caulfield- FFA

At the Waterford TAB we don’t say Fourth, we scream at the top of our lungs, ‘Effing Fourth Again!’

Horse Number 8 did win Race 8 on Saturday.

The only problem was, it was at Doomben.

Leonardo Da Hinchi tried sitting alongside Jungle Edge up on the speed, which was a bit of a rookie error, because combined with the hot speed and moreso a lack of race fitness, Order Of Command simply sat off the speed, and smoked them both like a Winnie Blues, while ‘Leo’ battled on home and ran 4th.

Will have to be a touch better than that in the future.

Well, he didn’t win, but Crazy Craig did have Victorem for a place, so he’s ‘Technically Correct’- The best kind of correct.

Thanks to the nuts speed up front from Goldfinch and From Within, Victorem (Back 2nd last) flashed home alongside Viridine, although the race fit Godolphin flyer went home the better down the outside, and scored from Crazy Craig’s pick.

Nevertheless, a good return from Port Macquarie’s finest, and a ‘correct’ tip to Craaaaaaazy Craig!
