Crazy Craig’s Picks of the Day Review: 15th May

Savatoxl, another chapter in the long list of roughies winning the Goodwood

Well it was a a violent Saturday across the country as roughies saluted everywhere, led by Savatoxl, the former Northern Territory dirt tracker, giving a Goodwood Handicap field containing Gytrash and Behemoth a ball-tearing at Morphetville, but in a rare win for the Chalk Eaters, Eduardo did all the donkey work and got the job done at the short odds in the Doomben 10,000.

There was also some wild scenes at the Waterford TAB, as the Pole from Poland who sits in the front row holding bundles of $50 notes, lost at least $2050, because we gathered up all of his tickets (Plus some of ours) and did the count:

He was last seen holding several $100 notes.

Anyway, it was a quiet day for Crazy Craig’s picks, which turned out to be Crazy Craig’s Pick, based on what happened to his Pick Of The Day, and unfortunately, there was sounding of the Lucky Lips:

Sartorial Splendor in Race at Flemington – Scratched

Excellent, my first collect of the day!

It was a sign of things to come at Flemington when the absolute best bet of the day got scratched this morning, and based on the way the race panned out with Rock Prophet and The Centaurian running in the quinella, I’m left thinking Sartorial Splendor would’ve won and won well.

Still, it’s technically a collect!

Oscar Zulu E/W in Race 9 at Rosehill – 5th

From Sky Racing

The favourite Count De Rupee ended up anchoring the last leg of the Rosehill quaddie with a comfortable win, while Oscar Zulu, after being backed in from 13s to $6.50 to start on the second line, went back in running from the wide barrier and just ran into too much traffic to seriously threaten the winner, although he did pick up and charge home to just miss the placings in 5th, and looking at the official result, 2nd through to 5th all finished within three quarters of a length of each other, with a half-length between Zing and Oscar Zulu.

I thought Oscar Zulu had finished 4th, only to realise he did indeed finish 5th, which means I can’t use the timeless phrase ‘FFA’ down the Waterford TAB, so I’ll have to say this….

****IN’ FIFTH AGAIN!
