In the inaugural VFL/AFL season in 1897, Melbourne were the first team to score 100 points in a game, when they cracked 107 points against Carlton in Round 5.

On Saturday night against a disease and injury riddled Fremantle team, Melbourne became the first team in the 6 seasons of the AFLW to score 100 points in a game, beating Brisbane’s record of 98 that stood for all of 6 days.
The Demons’ score?
107 points.

Fancy that, in both 1897 and 2022, the opposition had scored 7 points up to 3/4 time.
Anyway, here’s another AFL & AFLW Coincidence involving Melbourne:
In 1900, they were the first team to lose a VFL/AFL game to St Kilda.
In 2020, they were the first team to lose an AFLW game to St Kilda.
