Crazy Craig’s Picks of the Day Review: 4th June

For the first time since he buggered off from Western Australia, William Pike has ridden a Group 1 winner

From 7HorseRacing

I’d also point out today that Pikey managed to get Stroll to victory in Race 4 at Eagle Farm…

A considerable achievement, as nobody in Formula 1 can get Stroll to a victory.

Moving on to unimportant things like Crazy Craig’s tipping performance, it was a quiet day as he had just the two picks for reasons he didn’t bother to explain to anyone (He is Crazy after all), and it ultimately ended in a 3rd placing to Welsh Legend as the Tom Jones Value Pick, proving It’s Not Unusual to go with Tom Jones as a Random Pick:

And getting a pissy little $2.45 the place return is as good as a win in my eyes, which means I can SOUND THE LUCKY LIPS:

Random Sir Tom Jones Pick: Welsh Legend E/W in Race 6 at Flemington = 3rd ($2.60p)

A sound run by the Sir Tom Jones selection, as Welsh Legend let down nicely in clean air with Froggy Newitt doing the steering, and he completely and utterly out-sprinted everyone except the appropriately named winner Excelleration, and 2nd placed Born A King, who was more likely Born A Court Jester based on his record….

2 wins from 14 starts.

So a 3rd place with a place dividend to match a short priced favourite, and just before we move on, still touching on the subject of Welsh Legends, I was trying to figure out if at the end of last year I’d included Welsh Legend in a substitute Random Picks of the Day, but instead of using Sir Tom Jones, the Welsh Legend was Dame Shirley Bassey.

It turns out I had used Dame Shirley Bassey for a horse called Bright Diamond, since Dame Shirley obviously performed Diamonds Are Forever, while Welsh Legend was running the same day at Rosehill….

They both ran 2nd by a nose.

In fact, Baller was also a Random Pick that same day, and he also ran 2nd.

Guess who defeated Crazy Craig’s Pick of the Day for today?

Baller.

Pick of the Day: Shooting For Gold in the Moreton Cup at Eagle Farm = 4th (****in’ 4th Again!)

Totally bombs the start.

Sits last the entire journey.

Has to pull to the extreme outside to get clean running.

And ultimately finishes 4th, only a length and a a half from the winner.

There’s only one reaction I can think of for that set of circumstances.
