Crazy Craig’s Picks of the Day Review: 27th August

On a rock and rolling day, a horse trained by Leon Macdonald won the Leon Macdonald Stakes

On account of enjoying myself around Palm Beach, I only watched a couple of races on Saturday, and luckily enough one of them Race 3 at Rosehill, where my only bet of the day was Born A King, which I jumped on after Bruce McAvaney mentioned he felt the import was a good thing and the only question was the Soft track.

He was right about the good thing part, because he won by 4 lengths:

After that, if I hadnโ€™t gone off for a late lunch Iโ€™d have followed Crazy Craig and backed Iโ€™m Thunderstruck the place in the Memsie and wound up $120 ahead instead of $57 after he ran a superb 2nd to Snapdancer….

Well, beggars cannot be choosers, and the good part was I’m Thunderstruck actually ran a place at $3.10, which means I can SOUND THE VICTORY TUNE:

Now, for a well-earned Review:

Steve Miller Pick: Airliner scratched from Race 1 at Rosehill

Awesome, a collect!

Rod Stewart Pick: Aft Cabin in Race 5 at Caulfield = 2nd ($1.24p)

WATER LEAK IN THE AFT CABIN…. JACQUINOT’S PUT HOLES IN HIM.

Pick of the Day: I’m Thunderstruck E/W in the Memsie Stakes at Caulfield = 2nd ($3.10p)

It was nearly one of the greatest moments in the history of Crazy Craig’s Picks, putting a $10 shot as a Pick of the Day because he’s nothing short of a lunatic, but alas, I’m Thunderstruck simply ran out of metres and ran a superb 2nd, easily defeating everyone bar a DUAL Group 1 winner in Snapdancer, who bottled them up and exploded on the turn in a well-timed ride from Ethan Brown.

That said, another great run in the race was Cascadian to run 3rd, because dear lord look at where he was on the turn… 3rd last and running up arses.

Anyway, great run I’m Thunderstruck, the kind of 1st Up run from a horse that would have you lining up at the TAB to load up on him to run 2nd again 2nd Up, which is probably what I’ll end up doing….

And we’ll probably lose our money when he runs 4th.
