Crazy Craig’s Picks of the Day Review: 17th September

Callsign Mav KICKS THE TYRES AND LIGHTS THE FIRES in the Sir Rupert Clarke

And that was the highlight of the day, because Anamoe was never going to lose in the George Main after Zaaki was scratched and saved up for the Underwood at Sandown next Sunday, while Nature Strip won The Shorts, which was effectively The Everest 0.5, considering 75% of the field are going to feature in the sprint next month:

But stuff the nags, because they were all playing second fiddle to Crazy Craig on Saturday, as the lunatic tipster exploded to life with a vengeance, given his Pick of the Day and Value Pick of the Day BOTH WON, and going for the hat-trick his Richie Benaud pick ran 2nd by a half-length, WHICH MEANS IT’S TIME TO SOUND THE NEW VICTORY TUNE:

It quite literally is a Good Luck Charm… thanks Elvis.

And of course, thanks to picking 2 winners outta 3, here’s Meat Loaf to describe Craig’s performance:

Pick of the Day: Aft Cabin in Race 4 at Caulfield = WINNER ($2.15w/$1.22p)

I think the best possible move Jamie Kah made in that race, considering the horrendous weather, was going up and sitting next to the leader during the run, because there was absolutely no chance that anything off the speed was going to make up ground on Aft Cabin while they couldn’t see a damn thing ahead of them.

See that?

Horrific.

But, I think this race goes to show that an Aft Cabin is very handy to have when you’re surrounded by water.

Value Pick of the Day: Smokin’ Romans E/W in Race 6 at Caulfield = WINNER ($8.00w/$2.75p)

Ah, Crazy Craig’s first Value Pick victory in months, and what a great moment it was for the human race.

Smokin’ Romans started the morning at $12, then the rain pelted down and the track was downgraded from a Soft 6 down to a Heavy 8, and the next thing you know the little legionnaire jumped at $8 behind Gold Trip and Uncle Bryn, and with nothing to stop him, he’s proceeded to walk on water past the pair of them.

And because the Foundation Cup is an exemption race, Smokin’ Romans goes straight into the Caulfield Cup, THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

Richie Benaud Pick: Benaud in Race 9 at Randwick = 2nd ($1.34p)

Benaud was comfortable in last before William Pike launched the Richie tribute horse in the straight, and at the 200 metres I thought the winning hat-trick was on, but alas, Benaud ranged up to Alegron and suddenly pulled a heart muscle, lost interest, and was beaten by the 23-1 shot by a half-length.

Oh well, I guess we’ll have to butter up and watch Benaud run 2nd in The Metropolitan in a fortnight.
