The Chalk Eaters Guide Review: 24th August

Well, I experienced something new and weird today.

I was on the right end of an upheld protest (True Detective vs Superium in Race 3 at Randwick)… Even if it was one of the worst decisions ever seen.

Dabiyr in Race 2 at Moonee Valley- WON

There was a change in tactics pre-race declaring that Dabiyr would settle a bit further forward, and as soon as I saw Cuzzy Walker had maintained his squirrel grip (Not on the horse) all the way through to the 400, I thought to myself, “Yep, he’s going to go pretty well”.

Walker promptly released the brakes, and the expat did the rest and won pretty nicely.

Libertini in Race 5 at Randwick- WON

Absolutely pisses out talent does Libertini… I was in the queue the moment she jumped cleanly and stalked the leaders.

Just showing how utterly dominant that was ran a 1.07.93, which smashed the 3YO 1200m Randwick record by 7 tenths of a second, despite being eased down.

She ended up being just half a second off Santa Ana Lane’s track record.

If Anthony Cummings keeps her in 3YO Grade, she’ll piss in any number of G1s with performances like that.

Deprive in Race 6 at Randwick- WON

Stuff it, I’m promoting Deprive from Chalk Eating Hall of Famer, to Legend Status.

I was dead certain that Trope had nailed him on the line, and then hastily revised my thought to “Chris almighty I hope it’s a dead heat.”

And then, the judge took a look at the developed prints, and found a margin to the Sheikh’s horse…. somehow.

I mean, seriously, have a look at this- There doesn’t even look to be a poofteenth between them.

The shadow didn’t help Trope or the judges, but it sure did help me.

Snowchino in Race 8 at Belmont- 2nd

Touch Of Silver.

You. Big. Grey. Arsehole.

CRAZY CRAIG’S TIP OF THE DAY

LAYING Avilius in the Winx Stakes- LAY SUCCESSFUL

And thus begins the Post-Winx merry-go-round of Australian WFA racing, and it begins with Samadoubt giving everyone the finger and leading all the way in the Winx Stakes at 40-1.

Crazy Craig’s marked for death target Avilius got backed in to $2.60 in the end…

In further proof you don’t take on a crazy bastard unless you’re armed with a milk crate, he was right, ‘they’ were wrong.

It’s also worth noting that Lizzie Jelfs on Sky Racing picked out Samadoubt in the yard, further proving that she knows something about thoroughbreds.
