Yet another leader wins a Group 1 in Adelaide…. and Mick Price & Mick Kent just happened to train the winner
So the day started with the news that we’d lost Doomben thanks to the big wet on the East Coast, with the Doomben Cup now to be run on Wednesday, and it didn’t get any easier from there, as there were blowouts popping up everywhere, especially at Flemington, where the first 3 legs of the quaddie were a bookmaker’s wet dream.
Race 6: Welsh Legend wins at $7.50
Race 7: Ocean Beyond wins the Straight Six at $26, Crestani and On The Lead (Both $71) run 2nd and 3rd, Sirius Suspect runs 4th at $12, resulting in the Trifecta paying $31,740, First 4 paying $164,782.90 with $76,172 carried over.
Race 8: Le Don De Vie, who hadn’t even finished in the Top 3 of a race since winning last year’s Warrnambool Cup, runs down $1.95 favourite Tuvalu on the post, paying $81 for the win, ensuring the shortest way home for the Quaddie was a lazy $65,016.
Which is ultimately exactly what happened, as favourite Zac De Boss won the last.
And after the day’s racing was done, I went to work as a Scrutiny Assistant for the Federal Election in what is apparently now the Labor heartland of Como, also having to be the poor bastard who had to take all the materials home at the end of the night.
So I started at 5 on Saturday evening, we were finally done and packed up by 11:30 (No worries at all), I got to Welshpool at 11:50, thinking I’d just be able to drive in and out within 15 minutes….
AND THE LINE OF CARS WAS 4 BLOCKS DEEP, THE WAREHOUSE WAS UNDERSTAFFED (Yeah, great job there), IT MOVED AT A PACE OF 5 METRES PER HOUR, AND I DIDN’T GET TO THE WAREHOUSE UNTIL 2:40 IN THE MORNING, IT TOOK ME A MERE 5 MINUTES TO TAKE EVERYTHING OUT, AND I DIDN’T GET HOME UNTIL 3 IN THE MORNING.

MY MENTAL WELL-BEING WAS IRREVOCABLY DAMAGED SITTING IN THAT QUEUE, I’D LIKE A WRITTEN APOLOGY OR AT LEAST 3 HOURS OF OVERTIME…
THE OTHER HUNDRED DRIVERS BEHIND ME PROBABLY WANT THE SAME.
Anyway, how poorly did Crazy Craig fare?
Value Pick: Oscar Zulu did not run, Doomben abandoned
Random Bob Geldof Pick: Irish Angel ran at Rosehill, but he may as well have stayed in the float
Pick of the Day: Tuvalu in Race 8 at Flemington = 2nd ($1.20p)
What on earth:
